Events

Watch this short video which gives you a taste of what our community tree planting events are like.

Our workshops involve communities in their local areas in intergenerational tree planting and community gardening, with outdoor exploration for children. Our workshop leaders highlight how trees and plants are the fundamental basis of all life, and crucial to maintaining a sustainable environment.

We invite all ages to participate, and envisage that our involvement of children and young people will help to inspire the next generation to address climate change with nature-based solutions.

We can design bespoke events for a variety of participants. Our workshop leaders can work with you to tailor the workshops to suit schools, colleges, community groups and businesses.

Values

Our values are

Environmentalism • Community • Engagement • Participation • Integration

We aim to cultivate a lasting legacy of environmental sustainability by engaging local communities in tree planting. We believe that participation in our workshops will contribute to social integration at a local level.

Eashing Cemetery Community Garden and Orchard

We are delighted that Roots for the Future is working with Waverley Borough Council  communityto offer sessions at a local community garden project in Godalming. Eashing Cemetery Community Garden and Orchard brings people together from Godalming and surrounding villages to enjoy and enhance their local green space. The new community garden is at Eashing Cemetery on Frankly Rd and everyone is invited to help preserve its natural habitat and to enjoy its peace and tranquillity. There are regular volunteer sessions and we work with schools, uniform groups and corporate teams to continue to make the garden beautiful and biodiverse.

Read more about the community garden and upcoming dates here.

Mindfulness in Nature

Roots for the Future now offers ecotherapies. Get in touch to find out more about our wellbeing sessions such as mindfulness in nature and Forest Bathing. Some of the sessions are funded as green social presciptions, and we offer ticketed sessions too.

Happy Earth Day 🌎!
Here at Birtley Woodland 10 years ago, we held our first tree planting, which launched Roots for the Future.
Since then we've branched out (phnarr) with community gardening and forest bathing.
This Saturday come celebrate Earth Day, our birthday and the bluebells by snapping up the last two tickets of our forest bathing afternoon.

The bluebell, beloved native wildflower, often voted Britain’s favourite flower. Creating uplifting violet-blue carpets in ancient woodlands, their season is the ideal time to rest your body, destress your mind and restore your soul with forest bathing.
